    Going XFire Buying Advice

Seeing as the 5850 has dropped £50 in price I'm thinking of going crossfire.

But can anybody recommend a an AM3 mobo with at least 2 genuine PCI-E x 16 slots for around £100.

And how much do you think I can charge for my 6 month old, in perfect condition with all the packaging, Asus M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 to help pay for the upgrade.

I was hoping for a manifestation of moose power here but it seems CtV is conspicuous by his absence

He's in a couple of long threads Intel vs AMD. Send him a PM.
OT: my XFire is so much better with the 10.12 driver set.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.

    The Moose got distracted.

I would probably not go for a Crossfire setup since you have to get a new motherboard.

You could probably buy an HD6990 when it is out for example as you would be spending at least £400 on a Crossfire setup.

I'm not sure which driver set I have with my current 5850...I must check when I go home.

I was planning to get another 5850 to go with the exisiting one. With a replacement mobo at around £100 that would be approximately £250 minus whatever I got for the EVO.

    Re: Going XFire Buying Advice

You maybe able to get a 790FX based motherboard for around £100 or maybe an 890FX one for around £120.

TBH,I would wait a few months until the AM3+ 990FX motherboards are released. This way you will have an upgrade path.

Once, the GTX560 is released the HD6870 should hopefully become cheaper.

    Re: Going XFire Buying Advice

Actually, waiting for the AM3+ 990FX release is not a bad idea...then I could drop a Bulldozer in it some time in the future and get a somewhat remarkable performance increase if your other thread is anything to go by.

I have got this right haven't I? I can buy and AM3+ board and put my 965 in it initially then replace it when I have the money to do so?
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.
