3pin/molex help...
Well got my fan controller today, managed to hook up my pump but then i realised i cant connect my daisy chain of fans to it as i dont have any more molex to 3pin female connectors i have loads of 3pin male and some 3pin female(but arent attached to molex). Was wondering if its possible for me to change over the connectors/wires but i cant see any mention of this on the web and i dont want to break anything :P.
Any ideas?

Re: 3pin/molex help...
Yes you can just cut off the moxel and wire it up to a 3pin fan plug, obsiously there will be no 3rd wire to monitor rpm as a molex doesn't have one.
If you don't have a crimp tool and uncrimped pins for a 3pin fan then I've found the best way to do it is to cut off a spare 3pin fan plug from something and then ether splice the wires together or carefully cut the wires out of the crimped pin and just solder the fan wire to it (beware of not making it to big to go back into the plug)
If you're using the Antec tri-cool fans then you might hit some issues as the speed selector switch changes the voltage to the fan so if it's on low then you'll find that a small voltage decrease will probably stop the fan as the voltage is already reduced.

Re: 3pin/molex help...
thanks for the post pob, noticed that specialtech had some cables which are 3pin to 4 lots of 3pins which is perfect for me, should be here on tuesday so it should help me make it look nicer and also will mean daisy chaining will be a breeze.
But again, thanks as i may have to use this sometime down the line :)

Re: 3pin/molex help...
Beware you don't overload the fan controller, most cannot take more than 3x 120mm fans on a single channel.

Re: 3pin/molex help...
oh i made sure of that, the lamptro fc5 is designed for 30W which is much more than a bog standard one :). Thats the main reason i got it for my pump as thats 18w on its own channel.
