How much is my PC worth?

    Hi guys

I'm not looking to sell or advertise my PC on here, just want a general opinion on how much my PC is worth as I am a student and therefore don't have any money.

Bought the rig March/April '11, thought it would get me into gaming again but it hasn't - been too focused on my studies recently and music has dominated my life... so I rarely play games on here. The specs are:

    Code:
    AMD PhenomII 955 Quad core @ 3.2Ghz
650W ANTEC TRUEPOWER NEW PSU Modular
    8GB (4x2GB) CMX4GX3M2B1600C9 Cosair
    MSI 890GXM-G65 MoBo mATX
    1GB XFX HD6950 XXX 830MHz (2 Fans)
ANTEC Kuhler H2O 620 CPU cooler
    Crucial 64GB Real SSD C300 2.5" - SATA-III 6Gb/s - Read 355MB/s Write 75MB/s
    Fractal Design Define Mini Case
I've got some data storage drives but I won't be willing to include in the rig. Something's gotta hold all my tunes!

Bought it altogether for roughly £600-700, can't remember exactly since I bought it all in stages and upgraded piece by piece eventually. What I'm hoping you good people can help me decide if it's worth selling and investing in a laptop instead? If you guys reckon it's not worth much I'll keep hold of it, just trying to scrap some money together as best as I can! A laptop does seem handy especially since it's portable (stating the obvious... never had owned a laptop before!). With a laptop I could take it out to lectures and all that but have a docking station at my desk where my monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc. are for typing up those long essays!

Any input will be appreciated, cheers!

I just paid £45 for that CPU with a Freezer 7 Pro if it's any help.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.

Re: How much is my PC worth?

I suppose this is all reassuring it's still worth something... I've paid no attention to technology in a year or so now (only do it when buying parts), how much does a half decent/fully decent laptop cost these days?

Re: How much is my PC worth?

    1GB XFX HD6950 Worth at least £80
MSI 890GXM-G65 MoBo mATX worth at least £30
AMD PhenomII 955 worth at least £40
Fractal Design Define Mini worth at least £50
ANTEC Kuhler H2O 620 worth at least £30
Crucial 64GB Real SSD C300 worth at least £40

I would probably say £300 to £350 for it would be a good price for it. Its a year old so the kit should all be good condition and some might be still in warranty.

I hate laptops so i would stick with it. Might not be good for Lectures though

Personally I'd consider getting a Chromebook for around £200, then doing all of your work on Google docs so when you get home you can just sign in to Google on your desktop and get instant access to your documents where you can continue working on them.
