Just make sure that you let Windows 7 format the drive itself, Or you might get it mis-aligned like I did.
Other than that, I think you'll be impressed.
Yeah, few optimisations that should be done with an SSD, look online. Not that it makes a massive difference. What is the spec of the rest of the machine?
it's weird that like 1 or 2 years ago all anyone could talk about are ssd's
now with new gen 1 and gen 2 core cpu's from intel and bulldozer from amd soon, ssd's are on the backburner while everyone chases Ghz again. strange. looking forward to when they hit a good price though
I think it's purely down to a cost per gig thing. That and you need a secondary disk currently.
Generally speaking, I think an SSD is one of the single biggest improvements you can give to a modern system and once the prices drop a bit more, they'll be at the top again.
Currently, they seem to be confined to enthusiasts and rich people.

Make sure you have ACHI set up in the BIOS before you start.
Just do a fresh install of Windows 7 and get it to format the drive at the beginning of the install, It will do everything else for you.
Oh OK cool....I read somewhere else that I should set BIOS to IDE first to detect the SSD then flip to AHCI once installed??

Nope, Windows will freak out, just do it in AHCI. IIRC some had to be in IDE if doing a flash of the firmware
I set it do IDE by accident and it was just slow, and it wasn't possible to change once installed, I had to reinstall. Also, just use the stock windows ahci drivers as there's no installation needed, unless you're on an intel board in which case ICHR9 or whatever it's called is good for AHCI/RAID. AMD drivers slaughtered performance for me so steer well clear. So slow that the mouse cursor had to stop and take a breather every few pixels.
I have a 64gb C300 - you wont regret it. You'll notice a big difference if your used to a normal hdd.
If you've got any questions ill be happy to help

I never finish anyt
An SSD of some sort will be my next purchase. I'm contemplating one of these but it's £160 for 50 gigs as opposed to £90 for 60 gigs. Damn fast though - reviews all rate them.

REVO's are (basically) two drives in RAID0, with a different interface (PCIE), Unless you are actually requiring (high i/o VM's etc) that speed then you are better to get a 'real' drive imo.
Just how common is being able to boot from PCI-E. What sort of gen Mobos (AMD and Intel) are
likely to work.
