It's great to see amd coming up with this exciting technology. a breath of fresh air compared to the ancient atom technology.

Reminds me of the first ION pictures that came out, shame it was never that small.

It's a shame the fit-PC series are so expensive - they would be ideal for appliances i.e. firewall, PBX, various servers, etc, as well as for a low-power desktop or a sort of HTPC. The lack of an optical drive might be a problem here but you could use one as a MythTV frontend or similar. But for the price you'd be better off accepting the extra volume of a mITX system and building one yourself.

Sorry to join this thread late, but I wanted to agree with Pob255. That small ION desktop system was what drew me to ION, but then it, uh, never, uh, happened.

Re: CompuLab fit-PC3 AMD Brazos embedded system

There is a very small based ION system, done as a barebones unit by Foxconn
    http://www.foxconnchannel.com/produc...30i/index.html
    http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Pr...Netbox-nT-330i
You just need a 2.5" hard drive or SSD and a DDR2 SODIM to go in it, you can even get an addon dvd drive, however that doubles the width.
Still not quite as small as the original ION demo unit but it's pretty dam small.
I had a chance to play around with one at work, nice little unit, the atom just couldn't cut it with all our baggy network software installed.
