    xms3 or vengance

Looking for RAM and have seen these both at some decent prices plus the timings look good, although i have heard about vengeance running at 1.5v which is what sandy CPU's like apparently? xms3 likes to run at 1.65v.. what's the benefit of getting the xms3, upping DRAM voltage to 1.65 for a slight better timings?

    Re: xms3 or vengance

Vengeance looks like the best option atm, only real thing to watch out for is clearance with the very large cpu coolers

How would you tell if your heatsink is too large to fit with the ram? without actually having it infront of u lol

    Re: xms3 or vengance

    Check the cooler manufacture website.

It's only the really big ones like the noctua nh-d14 which over hang the ram slots that are an issue.
The majority of 120mm fan based tower coolers are fine.

    Re: xms3 or vengance

You can get 1.5v XMS3 at 1600MHz CL9 now. My guess is that the only difference is the heatsink? Personally I'd get whatever's cheapest, which may well be this

    Re: xms3 or vengance

well that depends on how much multi tasking you need from it ...
My house mate doing physics and programming has dual screen setup and has a habit of having about 9000 windows and processes running at the same time and 4 works plenty good enough for him anyway.

In any case there is only a small fraction of users who really need more than 4 atm.
