Advice on what to buy for new build

Hi all. I’ve decided it’s time to treat myself to an upgrade. I used to keep pretty much on the bleeding edge hardware wise but times change and for a few years I’ve been pretty much out of the loop.

I’ve just started doing the research but it looks like it’s going to be a long ( but enjoyable slog )
Current machine is as profile. It will run stable at 3ghz but I like to keep things stock if poss and thats how it runs most of the time.

So. I will have around £1k to spend.
    I guess I could either :

    1) Build a new machine and sell the old
    2) Upgrade the current machine and sell off the old bits
    All advice welcome

I would avoid getting a Sandy Bridge based build for the next few weeks due to the SATA issues:

Fixed motherboards probably will be sent out during the end of February AFAIK.

TBH,your current computer does look fine and I would overclock it for the time being.

I would wait a few more months to see how AMD Bulldozer performs.

It is the first new architecture from AMD for around 7 years IIRC. It is being launched in Q2 2011 around April or May.

Ah right. I'll keep an eye on that then cheers. Not in any real rush.
