Hi thank for reply . Its for gaming as for size ect not to fussed as long as it can run the latest games at good spec . Budget wise i cant say ive got one i have not thought of how much i want to spend on it just what i want from it ,
Just found some clips of the bulldozer , Well im not starting it yet so i think i might wait and see more about that one & see what intel have to offer
TBH,your current computer has a weak graphics card and the processor is still fast enough to do the job in many games. If you upgrade to an HD4670,GT240 GDDR5,HD5670 GDDR5 or 9800GT GDDR3 Green Edition for around £50 to £70 you should be able to run many games at higher settings.
However, this will mean an additional 50W to 75W your PSU will need to supply and hence this is why it is important to know what PSU you have.
I know!

Well, just for some ideas, have a look at this:
Case & PSU: Antec NSK-3480 £76
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-880GM-UD2H AMD 880G AM3 £65.
CPU: AMD Athlon II X3 450 £60
RAM: Corsair Memory 2 x 2GB DDR3 £35.
Hard Drive: Samsung 1Tb Spinpoint F3 £40.
DVD: Samsung DVD writer £12.50
Graphics card: XFX HD 5770 £95
OS: Windows 7 64bit Home Premium £75.
Total = £458.50
There are clear areas for improvement here, or further cost-cutting dependant on budget, but there's not a game available now that this wont play well.
Note - you will also need keyboard, mouse, monitor & speakers!
Edit: Just one thing I wanted to point out before I get flamed...
The graphics card suggested (a 5770) isnt the very best that you can buy today, and another £50 would get a really very strong 6850 card.
However i'm recognising that you currently have a "3000 series" which is, in fact, on-board integrated graphics, and therefore the 5770 by comparison will absolutely fly. It's also a low power-draw, compared to more expensive cards.

would the 6850 fit in my mother board ok then ? so its just a case of getting a better psu to run ok .
My wife likes gaming to so it would be even better if i can make it better for her and i build my own.
its ok the comp i just want somthing better for mohaa for her its bang on
This is (it seems) your machine:
Compaq website.
It shows that in terms of card slots, you only have PCI-E 1x, instead of the much more needed 8x or 16x. A newer card in that slot will (to the best of my understanding) work, however wont work to its best.
Avoid trying to add in anything extra to your Compaq - its just not designed with that in mind.

The motherboard looks really cheap. It does not even have a PCI slot.

Even this £32 Biostar AM3 motherboard has a PCI-E 2.0 16X slot:

so I should leave that thought with that one .
And build one . what really good motherboard is there out there that would take the amd phenom x6 & if possible upgrade to the bulldozer at a later date .
That mother board I said earlier seems good but I'm no expert .
any ideas

Diffrent this one 2 processores loads of ram and 4 graphics cards
Hmmmmmmm lol
ohh by the way I know that's an board for intel not the question I asked just looked interesting ;-)
A few points.
First of all, you still havent been clear about a budget (or if you have one at all).
Secondly, let me know about the idea for a build I proposed above, if you can, and say what isn't right for you - that way, we can help you better.
Thirdly be aware that the upcoming AMD bulldozer CPU is still unreleased, and that what we know about it is either pre-release, rumor or speculation.
That said, wikipedia (trust that as you will) says it is an AM3+ socket chip. This implies to me that it will work fine in a current AM3 socket motherboard, but possibly with additional functionality in the as-yet unreleased AM3+ motherboards (for example issues relating to power gating / savings, or some sort of improved data transport path). That's just my guess though. As such, I couldn't hand on my heart recommend any AMD motherboard right now, until we know more.

None of the current AMD motherboards will work with Bulldozer. You will need to wait until the socket AM3+ motherboards are released in the next few months.
That above you put looks ok and for the price its bang on really .
But i want one that i can upgrade when needed .
It will only really be used for gaming ect cod 4 . black ops . mohaa .
so i suppose i could go out spend loads on one but if some thing like that would run the games im looking at then whats the point i suppose .
i want to be able to run games like black ops at high settings and run well ;-)))

Ok, well, in that case then buy it and be happy!
It is certainly upgradeable, however if you might want to change the motherboard in the future, be aware that the OEM licence of windows will not do you any good from that point on, and you'd need another licence. However, if you want to pay a little more for a retail copy, you install that as many times as you like on as many machines as you like (however only one at any given time).
Also you may get benefit from a stronger processor, the one i posted to was really just an idea. Still, a triple core at 3.1Ghz is good.
Finally i will highlight that the Power Supply Unit (PSU) that comes with that particular Antec case is absolutely fine for the spec ive suggested, however if you were feeling that you needed the very best graphics cards (which need lots of power) then it wouldnt suffice.... There is no one correct way with any of this, and if you are not experienced them let me simply say that the spec i've given will be a great machine, and certainly much more rapid than your current Compaq.
