No luck creating a bootable USB stick.
I'm trying to flash the firmware of my Samsung F3 1 TB hard drive.
Hi guys, I downloaded various utilities to create a bootable USB stick and both my computers ignore it. It recognises the USB device in BIOS. have set it as first boot device etc.
I been using HP drive key boot utility which should be a breeze and is highly recommended. It seems to format and place bootable files on the memory stick and a folder to place the utilities you wish to run.
Also tried HP USB disk mass storage tool which I have linked to some other boot files I have downloaded.
The main interest is just flashing the firmware, if anyone knows any ready-made CD-ROM that would be great

You could probably make use of the pre-created ISO for Samsung drives linked in that thread.
Re: No luck creating a bootable USB stick.
I've found that the easiest way to make a bootable USB stick for multi-vendor HDD testing is by using "multibootisos", choosing the DOS ISO option, and just putting the additional vendor-supplied .exe files directly onto the USB stick filesystem. Once the DOS "ISO" loads, you can then refer to the USB stick files by going to C:
A week or so ago I attempted to use one of the HDD maker ISO images with multibootisos and it failed miserably - just using their DOS .exe works fine. You may have to extract it from the ISO or floppy image file.

Thanks peoples, look forward to trying these methods out. Cheers
