Insurance
Rig detail to the left, I think it about 2.5 k to re-buy new, although scan don't sell the 5970 2GB.
Parts oldest being 6 months old.
I'm a UK council tenant so i don't need building cover and the council contents cover is 150 a year but only covers up to 1.5 k for a single item. (You can't add)
So I really need to get some cover in place.

Re: Insurance
They want suggestions of somehwhere to get insurance for the PC, or contents insurance which will insure items valued over £1500?

Re: Insurance
Phone your insurance company and ask them to add the PC as a single item valued over 1.5K. I have several items added to my insurance that cost over the single item limit.

Re: Insurance
He's already said he can't add.
Since getting separate contents insurance would probably be needlessly expensive, I'm guessing he's looking for a PC insurance quote. Whether they exist, I don't know.
It might be worth your while just contacting a few contents insurance firms, and asking how much they would quote for contents insurance that would cover the PC. With online cashback it might be cheaper than you think.

Re: Insurance
How about something like Insure And Go's computer insurance?
Although please be aware that i'm not recommending this or any other insurance service, or giving financial advice etc. Other insurance companies are available.
Edit, oh no scrap that they dont insure custom pcs, although maybe one of the other insurance providers sdo

Re: Insurance
I'd suggest you simply switch insurers to one that provides what you want, depending on how your current scheme works (ie is it annually renewable or just ongoing as part of your rent etc). We're tenants too, and I took out contents-only insurance with RSA in January.
As part of my technology/audio-video theft and accidental damage cover I told them my PCs were self/custom built and they said that was fine, just to declare them separately if they were worth over £2k but that it wouldn't be a problem either way. It didn't add anything to the premium, so it's definitely worth shopping around.
