    Business laptop.

    Hey guys,
A friend of mine is on a lookout for a 12-14 inch laptop after his got stolen and we've scavenged the net for a few hours just now.
However knowing that there's always something you miss was gonna check with you chaps.

Budget - up to 1000 euroes (he is planning to buy in Germany, when he's back there) or aprox 800 pounds, however the cheaper the better (I'm advising him to spend 500-600 and get monitor/speakers to hook up to at home)

    Priorities in order of importance:
    Battery Life
    Mobility/weight/size
    Connectivity
    Screen and keyboard quality.

    Tasks:
    Words processing
    Browsing
    Watching Movies

All in all - I'm advising him against getting something too powerful since frankly he doesn't need it to be.

    Thanks in advance !

I would have a look at the Toshiba R630 and R700:

Both have a magnesium alloy chassis.

Toshiba have recently introduced the R800 series though.

Dell Latitude. There should be one to suit his needs, good spec and price range to choose from.

I have a Latitude D620, one of the best laptops I have used.

    Re: Business laptop.

Done a little mod on mine as I got the nvidia gpu with of course had problems with heat.
So took it apart got a large piece of copper and alot of AS5. Now it runs fine and no overheat.

Mainly use it for surfing and playing kiddie games. Battery not too bad on mine, I get over an hours before having to plug charger in. Not bad for a used machine.

Performance I think is good, came with C2D T5600 @ 1.8, upgraded memory to 2gigs PC6400 and 120gig hard drive.

All in all Iam very happy with it, out shine some new laptops I see in shops.
