    Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF Motherboard Pin layout

Long story short the motherboard in my carPC went broke all over me. I bought the closest replacement I could find, a Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF off Ebay.

Now that it has turned up and I have managed to connect it all up...i cant find the flipping power/reset pins on the motherboard. I also can't find any instructions online for it. Having spent £25 on it & the thought of going for such a long drive on the weekend without satnav/music isn't much fun.

    Can anyone offer any advice?

    Cheers guys

edit: apparently its made by Packard bell or something? arrrghhh

Re: Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF Motherboard Pin layout

Found a thread on another forum (hardware central) from someone who's resolved some of the FP pin-out. Unfortunately his link to the packard bell website (your board is a pull from a PB machine which is why it's so hard to get info on it ) is no longer valid, but you might be able to use the info from the thread to search the Acer site (which is where his link gets redirected to).

    Good luck

what socket is the mobo? If you can work out the approximate age ftp://ftp.download.packardbell.com has documentation for legacy imedia products...

Re: Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF Motherboard Pin layout

I gave up & went poking around with scissors to try & find the right pins manually.

I managed to track them down i think, but when I make contact the CPU spins 1/4 as does the PSU before everything stops again.

    Any ideas?

edit: tried a different PSU and it worked fine, looks like I have a dead PSU. Just to add to the confusion...

    Thanks anyway guys

Re: Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF Motherboard Pin layout

Does anyone know if these MOBOs can take a Q6600? It is socket 775 but aside from that I don't know what else could prevent a CPU working in a set MOBO.

I haven't managed to get hold of an internet speaker yet so was testing the MOBO with my Q6600 chip.

Re: Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF Motherboard Pin layout

if it's a cheapish OEM board it might not have a beefy enough VRM section to cope with the power requirments of a Q6600, which has a 95W TDP for the G0 stepping (and higher for the earlier stepping, iirc). Also the BIOS might not recognise quad-core chips if it's an early-ish s775 mobo.

Oh, and some of the early s775 chipsets that were designed for Pentium 4s aren't compatible with Core 2 due to a couple of minor but crucial changes to the power requirements of the CPUs (despite using the same socket )

They're the only things I can think of that would stop it, though...

EDIT: According to wiki the ATI RC410 chipset on that board supported both P4 and Core 2, but my guess would be that if your board is an early example it won't have met Core 2's differing power requirements so may well not support *any* Core 2 based processor...

Re: Gigabyte GA-8TRC410MNF Motherboard Pin layout

Oh bollocks! . Serves me right for buying something without researching it properly! Worse thing is, for an extra £10 that I spent on the damn I could have a bought a new one from Scan that would have worked & that could have been returned if I changed my mind!

I think I need a new CPU though, it seems the one I have is fried. Bugger!
