sv25 problem

I have recently got hold of an SV25 that wont boot, it gets to the verifying DMI pool stage of bootup and then freezes.

I cant boot from floppy/cd as it doesnt get that far before falling over! (have tried booting with everything disconnected)

I can only think of 2 possible problems as the ram and cpu are fine.

1. the bios is corrupt... in which case how can i get it reprogrammed

2. one of the capacitors is busted... (but would it even boot if this were the case)... one of them has a slightly rounded top and a little bit of corrosion!

any input would be great as Id like to save this from the sff scrapheap

just a quick update.....

I have managed to get it to boot from a winxp cd... i have 3 copied of xp and on each it get a certain amount of the way through and then says a file is corrupt... its a different one for each disk... one disk is an original and I know they all work fine!

no i spent about 6 hours trying to install windows on it only for it to fall over at various stages.... grrr

that was going to be my next plan of attack////
