    Laptop HDD performance, 750GB 2-platter Vs 1TB 3-platter

    Hi Guys,

A friend is asking me which one he should get and how they stack up, he doesnt mind losing 250GB if its faster, but i dont know what to tell him, they're both 5400rpm.

I'll check back with him in a few hours so he can read your input. Thanks!

For everyday use he won't see any difference in performance, you may see a difference in sequential transfer speed in benchmarks.

One thing to note though, if it's going to be installed in a laptop make sure it fits. All the 1TB 2.5" drives I've seen are 12.5mm thick.
