    What laptop c.£750?

    Hey all,

I'm looking for a laptop at around this price point for web browsing, skype, programming, videos, and gaming.

I like the Acer Ethos and the Dell L501, any recommendations?

Also, I'm moving to Canada in April, would I be able to transfer the Warranty to Canada when I move?

    Thanks,

    t

If you are gaming the minimum graphics card I would look at would be a AMD Mobility Radeon HD5650.

Here is a list which shows the relative performance of modern laptop graphics cards:

That SL510 is a bit underspecced compared to my choices isn't it?

Any good Vaios at that price range?

Probably because it's a Lenovo that won't suddenly fall apart after 3 years.

    - not sure on gaming though

Actually, since you are moving to Canada, you will get a cheaper laptop in the States than in the UK. The keyboard layout will be different too.

My recommendation. Don't buy it here.

You have a point! I want one now though!

Dell said I could transfer my Warranty, so might see if a nice XPS 15 pops up on the outlet in a bit

Just make sure it has a USB or eSATA port ! Just spent half the day waiting on USB2 copying speeds!

that because in a pinch they can be used for personal defense and they you can go straight back to what ever you was doing without the machine breaking of even switching off.

You are moving to Canada in April, you only have to wait a month - be patient!

You should check out the laptop prices in Canada and it might entice you to wait
