Re: itx server build
I like the idea.....I was looking at a HP server but this could be a good alternative. What software are you thinking?

Re: itx server build
im gonna use freenas run off a 1gb usb i might use a linux but that would be alot more hassle where as freenas is just a server o/s so sould be quite easy il post a ruff drawing later so you can see how its gonna fit.

Re: itx server build

Re: itx server build
Cool, like the case, was going to use the Q07 myself but wanted the hot swap bays so went for this one:

They now also do a 4 hotswap bay case which I believe has room for a fifth drive

Both come with power supplies
If the Q07 is a bit small you could try the Q08

I am running Freenas from a USB drive and find it excellent.

Re: itx server build
cheers for input will have to have a thinks about case now good price really since it already comes with psu.
kmac is freenas quite feature rich, like does it host bittorent files also dose it have an option to setup when it will go to sleep and wake at certain times thanks for info
-
Re: itx server build
Certainly supports bittorent client
Don't know about sleep and wake features - never looked into it - will have a look at the Web GUI to see if there is anything obvious
-
Re: itx server build
Okay - you can power down disks after certain time interval of inactivity
Also there are Power management features but my installation is older so doesn't have them on the Web GUI - will need to upgrade over the weekend
In any case you can include simple command scripts to achieve the same thing ( even in older distros like mine)
Systems been so good I basically set it up and then ignored it since - no issues (fingers crossed)
