Corsair vs. Kingmax

Ok, thinking of upgrading my 512megs of RAM into a nice set of 1Gig RAM. Now i wanna use the other 512 to go into my other machine so I am looking to buy a pair of 512 sticks. I was wondering what would be better to get because I am an avid gamer and so I need pretty good performance, I've narrowed all the RAM down to 2, Kingmax or Corsair. I'm on a budget (about £150 of birthday money) and I was wondering if I should wait like 6 months to save up and get some Corsair or just go with the 1gig of Kingmax, would I notice any performance difference between the 2?
I play Far Cry, Il2 Forgotten Battles, Battlefield Vietnam so would I see any difference between Corsair and Kingmax in any of these games?

I think the difference you would see because of RAM would be miniscule compared to differences due to Graphics Card/CPU.
Having said that there is a good argument for waiting cos RAM prices seem to be at a peak again at the moment so you could probably pick up the corsair for that money in a few months.

As Greenpiggy says, wait for the RAM prices to go down. And hopefully you will have more money.

Unless you are overclocking i dont think that you would notice a huge difference. Maybe the timings are sligthly tighter with the corsair, but im sure the kingmax would be able to get to CAS 2, TRAS 2, RAS 2 (or whatever the buggers are called) at stock speeds, or with a minor voltage increase.

If you have the money i would say go for corsair, but it is very expensive stuff.

I've managed to clock 1gb of Corsair XMS PC3200 as fast as 1gb Kingmax PC3500. I've always found Corsair to be of outstanding quality.

You'll notice a nice difference between 512MB RAM and a 1GB RAM

The KingMax stuff uses BGA memory iirc

I wouldn't mind some of that XMS (3200 would do me, but 3500 might be a good idea because im contemplating o/cing my P4)
So the verdict seems to be wait, how long do you think before prices go down, or is it upto the exchange rate?

I have my P4 3.2 @ 225fsb (3.6ghz) with a gig of Corsair XMS 3200 at work. It's rock solid runing 24/7. Swear by the stuff.

Hmm I had a 512MB stick of PC3200 Kingmax go absolutely fubar on me a while ago.

So I bit the bullet and got myself a Gig of Corsair XMS Pro .
It runs faster timings and I'v had no problems with it yet. Its not overclocked due to limitations of my M/B but it would probably would go fast.

The problem with the Kingmax was probably a one off but thats just my 2p.

memory is only as good as the chips it uses, corsair wont have any better chips than anyone else, those days are gone, the day of BH5 is over. these days you're basically paying the extra for the branding to be fair.

I've got one stick of kingmax 3500 ram works a treat and is a nice red colour, do you get flashy LED's on the Corsair?

Got some 512MB PC3500 Kingmax RAM in my shuttle, seems to work OK, although haven't tried any overclocking.

I had Kingmax but swapped it out for Corsair because the Kingmax turned out to have an incompatability with my mobo. I was lucky there though because Overclock agreed to take back the Kingmax even though I had exceeded the returns period as I was buying the Corsair from them as a replacement.

I have 1GB of Kingmax DDR400 in a comp here, works fine though not tried pushing it at all. My main computer uses 1 512MB Corsair XMS3200C2 1.1 (BH-6), a really great memory module. I go Corsair for my computers, but since you'll probably find a quite big price difference, you might concider kingmax aswell.

But as said before, wait some for prices to drop first...
