Pricecheck: Possibly breaking up my HTPC

I've got no need for an HTPC at the moment, since my TV and speakers are sitting at home - desktop is perfectly adequate for single-room uni accommodation.

So, question is, what do you reckon I would get for this lot, flogged as parts on the classifieds. Any input appreciated

    Compucase 8K01 with PSU
    J&W Minix 780-SP128MB
    Phenom II X3 705e
    4GB Crucial SO-DIMM DDR2 RAM
    Corsair X32 SSD
    Slimline Samsung SN-N083C Drive
    KeySonic ACK-612RF
    SST NT07-AM2 Heatsink

I think that's everything, unless I've forgotten something obvious!

If you're at uni why not use it as a dedicated folding rig while you're on the halls' leccy bill (or are you sharing a house?) ?

They should all have held value really well as they're rareish components (try buying a Phenom II X3 new these days...). I'd've thought £40 - £50 each for the mobo and CPU, perhaps £30ish for the RAM? Not sure about the Corsair SSD - I assume it's not a JMicron controller, in which case maybe £30 - £40 for that too?

Re: Pricecheck: Possibly breaking up my HTPC

If I could afford it I'd buy it off you whole

Compucase 8K01 with PSU = £30 (we've just got a load of pc built using these lovely cases)
    J&W Minix 780-SP128MB = £40-50 that's a nice board
Phenom II X3 705e = £50+ for the cpu, that was one of the best low power phenomII wasn't it?
    4GB Crucial SO-DIMM DDR2 RAM = not much £20
Corsair X32 SSD = £30-40 would make a nice laptop drive.
Slimline Samsung SN-N083C Drive = . . . Umm the only link I can find when I put that into google is this thread.
    KeySonic ACK-612RF = £15-20
    SST NT07-AM2 Heatsink = £5

EDIT: Here's a crazy idea, keep hold of it, in the 3 years you'll be at uni the demands of TV and music are not going to radically change and make it out of date in the next 3 years.
Leave it at home with the TV & speakers

Would make one heck of a racket I fear. The case is minuscule, and with only a 60mm fan extracting it doesn't take long to heat up in there!

Your estimates seem to more or less tie in with Pob's... had no idea all this stuff was so 'rareish' so to speak. Depreciation doesn't seem to have been *too* bad which is nice - HTPC is over a year old now.

I was very tempted to keep it, but I think I'm going to go fanless in future - my big problem when I built the HTPC was a lack of space, which hopefully I won't suffer from in future. Also, I'm looking to scrape a few quid together and the HTPC is the most obvious asset I have that I can get rid of without losing out.

I'm a bit sad about it - was great fun to tinker with, but it's probably worth more to me in cash atm.

And thanks a lot for the pricelist, was really useful. I'll probably get it on the classifieds in late April, but the prices seem to be holding fairly well so far so can't imagine anything will change in the next few weeks.

Hope I am not breaking any rules for posting this as it is not in the shopping section.

I want to go back to an itx system as space is getting limited now with all the toys from the kids taking up all the room.

If you do decide to sell, I like offer £100 posted for

Not sure if you are or not, tbh, but since you don't have 100 (constructive!) posts yet you wouldn't have access to the For Sale forums and the mod squad would certainly advise members against dealing with you.

That said, you're only 12 constructive posts off getting that access and jim's already said he probably won't list it until the end of April...

    What he said ^

And besides, there's no way I can sell it right now, because it's over 100 miles away at present.
