Re: 140mm silent case fans recommendation

X-bit had a round up of some 140mm fans.
    http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/coo...n-roundup.html

They quite liked the Thermalright TY-140
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/140mm...ssion-fan-blad

and also the Thermalright X-Silent 140 which im sure scan was selling a couple of weeks ago.

Just remember not to trust the manufactors specs as they all measure differently so carnt be compared to what you will get in real situations.

Re: 140mm silent case fans recommendation

Meh, any 140mm fan below about 900rpm is near silent and below about 1100rpm the motor and bearing will be louder than the blades
The thermalright TY-140 is a good option for a 140mm PWM fan but if you don't have a PWM header or fan controller then it's not silent at it's full 1300rpm

    For Low cost look at
    BitFenix 140mm http://www.scan.co.uk/products/140mm...fdb%29-1000rpm
Lian-Li CF1049B http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...-pid-9582.html (this is the same as the yate loon, I'm 90% sure they are made by yate loon, but included an 140mm wire fan grill)
Yate Loon D14SL-12 http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...-pid-4773.html (no frills, decent quality, although not as good as their ballbearing fans used in PSU's)

    Bit more money
The new Antec True quiet 140mm fan is supposed to be good http://www.ebuyer.com/product/247979 Like the old tri-cool it's got a stitch to change the speed, this only has two settings 500rpm or 800rpm (so near silent or really near silent) and built in rubber grommits for anti-vibration.
Fractal Design 140mm http://www.specialtech.co.uk/spshop/...pid-10876.html at 600rpm the air flow is very low but they are also very quiet, includes rubber fan plugs for anti-vibration and ease of fitting, also looks good with it's braided cable and matte plastic.
