Corsair XMS4000PT; Something wrong with these?

Is there something wrong with the above mentioned RAM? Because within 3 days two people have each sold 1Gb of this in the For Sale forum, both stating 'too overkill' for their systems. Now one is a Shuttle, so maybe fair enough, but the other was an AMD64 system. So, is there some particular reason people are trying to get rid of this stuff?

maybe they are selling this memory because the memory is capable of running @ 500 Mhz and their systems cannot reach this speed to run synchronously, hence they are calling it overkill and are probably going to get some nice low latency 400 Mhz memory or even some 400 Mhz "pro" memory.

yup, they're better off getting some ram that will do 2-2-2-6 @ 200-220 than having significantly worse timings @ 500 async..

Its really for P4's 'C' and 'E' or uber AMD overclocks.

Personally, I would be curious to know where it came from.

I bought 1Gb (Twinx1024) XMS4000PT from eBuyer a few weeks back for what I perceive to be a bargain price of a touch over £150. Needless to say it was DOA and eBuyer turned it round within a week (way faster than 'normal'), insisted on refund rather than the direct replacement I asked for and promptly banged the price up to £240!

Smells a bit fishy in that respect to me.
