    Quietest PSU around

Hi, I'm in the market for a new PSU of 600-700w. Looking for the quietest 1 possible for a good price.
After alot of looking round I was convinced by a review (http://www.silentpcreview.com/Cooler...lent_Pro_M700W) but now I see it's £20 more than I thought, as I'm quite confused between the difference of these 2:

Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 700W Modular Power Supply

    Coolermaster Silent Pro M 700W

Sadly no reviews I found compare any of the top choices together so I'm finding it very hard to fine which would be quietest.
    Another i've seen is:
    Antec True Power New 650W
I'm totally open to any other recommendations.
Any input would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

    Re: Quietest PSU around

how much you looking to spend?

    http://www.nzxt.com/new/products/pow...es/hale90_650w

currently £83.99 inc VAT on Scan Today only

    http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/

I use the 750W version and am very happy with it.

Other people like the Antec range, others the Corsair range, though I was attracted by the noise charts published by NZXT combined with their Gold efficiency.

Thanks for super quick reply! do you know if they'd make the same amount of noise?

I think £70 is a reasonable amount, my current 1 is OCZ gamexstream 600w which seems good but too loud.

    Seasonic X-660.

Yes, they're expensive, but they are worth it.

While you're splashing out, get a nice APC Smart-UPS to help protect it

What he said, when this PSU is under very low load/temperatures the fan actually stops, you don't get much quieter than that
and depending on what you're actually trying to power you may well be able to happly use the 560w fanless version http://www.scan.co.uk/products/560w-...2v-fan-cooling

    Re: Quietest PSU around

Thank you for replies, sadly those were too expensive though, I'm looking for £60-80 ideally.
    And it'll be a gtx 560ti/sandybridge so I'd say 600+

did you look at the scan today only offer I mentioned - its £83.99 for a *quiet* modular PSU Gold (90%+) efficiency, and with a 5yr guarantee. Make a few more forum posts to bump up your post count to 20 and you can register for free shipping with Scan.

you shouldn't need much more than 600-650W even if you were running SLI. Have a look at this thread:

I did see, I didn't find many reviews
http://www.pureoverclock.com/review.php?id=1091&page=5 Didn't seem over impressed with it's noise.

I might wait for Seasonic X-560 to come on today only deals as I love the idea of hybrid fan.
Although my fraction r3/560ti has stock fans etc anyway so probably won't make a difference over them. Oh i'm terrible at decisions!
Ps. I have free delivery from elsewhere(I ordered my case yesterday!) thanks people

I've had Corsair, Thermaltake, Seasonic, Zalman and Coolermaster. To me the Coolermaster are by far the quieter.

What was the Coolermaster PSU? I had a Realpower 620W and it was very noisy.

    Re: Quietest PSU around

A bit after the event, but for future reference Be Quiet do a 80+ Gold modular that will do 650W at 13.9dB:

    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/650w-...-139db-eps-12v

Bit pricier than the Hale90 at £110 but gives more than proportional acoustic gains (or reductions depending how you look at it).

Best one available is the Corsair AX range, I have an AX750 and the fan hardly even spins, only when I start stressing the computer.
