    Question 3D Gaming

    Hi all,

Since getting the 3DS, I find the 3d really adds to the game and isn't a gimmick as I thought it would have been. I find the 3d amazing, and that got me thinking again about getting a 3D monitor for my pc.

The main problem I have is that I currently have 2 HD6850's, and I am finding it difficult to understand what the story is with Amd & 3D. From what I can gather it seems that you can't have 1080p 3d with Amd

So, now I'm looking at the Asus VG236H (bundled with 3d vision glasses), and replacing my hd6850's with a Gtx 580. The total cost for that combination is around 855euro (£755) from Amazon with free delivery to Ireland.

Does anyone know enough about Amd & 3D to fill me in, and
am I better off buying the Asus VG236H & Gtx580?

I'd love to hear ye're opinions of 3D Vision, if anyone has experienced it.

3d gaming is incredible... its no gimmick, i use nvidia 3d vision on my laptop - and playing games in 2d is just not as fun anymore! the sense of depth and the amount of pop-out in some games is just incredible.

it has injected new life in to some of my favourite pc games such as max payne 1&2, fable, far cry, street fighter 4, devil may cry 4, resident evil 5, age of empires 3, burnout paradise, batman arkham asylum (one of the best titles to play in 3d vision)

i would highly recommend going for a demo of the kit somewhere before purchasing - as some people get headaches or discomfort when using active shutter glasses, its very different and more immersive than 3d in cinemas

My first time seeing anything in 3D was Monday when I played my 3DS for the first time, I thought it was incredible, I can only imagine what its like on the pc.

Unfortunately finding a 3D Vision kit to demo in Ireland would be virtually impossible, especially if you live anywhere besides Dublin
