    SATA adaptor 2.5in to 3.5in

    Hi

Need to install a 2.5in laptop HDD into a desktop machine so I can copy data across - the laptop motherboard has died.

What kind of adaptor would I need? The HDD is a SATA drive and I have SATA ports in my desktop.

Was thinking about this but not sure it would do the trick

Re: SATA adaptor 2.5in to 3.5in

You don't need one, SATA connectors are the same on 2.5" and 3.5" drives, all you need is a spare SATA power and a regular SATA cable. If you want to mount it permanently then you'll need a converter to a 3.5" bay, but if just to transfer data then you can let it dangle or just rest it somewhere.

    Bay size converter rails: http://www.amazon.co.uk/StarTech-com...cp_computers_3

You can also get USB>SATA Adapters, save you ripping the machine open...?

Cool thanks that saves me a few bucks, no permanent mounting required
