Laptop Buying Advice for a friend

I've been asked to hunt down a laptop for a mate. Requirements are:

4GB RAM, hard drive >= 500GB, GPU strong enough to play Total War series, and hopefully the next couple of iterations before it goes in the bin. Generally speaking, we're talking about the battles, so the CPU for turn calculation isn't an issue compared to the graphics horsepower.

Budget is 900 euros, and obviously spending the maximum amount isn't a necessity. I'm hunting around at the moment, just wondering if anyone had any immediate reactions that I wouldn't know about - it's a while since I went laptop hunting!

    Cheers

I presume euros is for Ireland, if so these may be worth a look http://www.dell.com/ie/p/xps-15/fs

All seems good - sandy bridge, discreet 410M etc, 7200RPM HDD, but screen is 1376x768 and it is 200 to upgrade to full 1080p

Greece actually, but it may well be bought in the UK anyway - location isn't *too* much of an issue compared to specs, if you catch my drift.

Cheers for the link, will check it out

Generally that's a good thing for games, the lower resolution will be a big bump in gpu performance.

    900 Euro is around £790.

    I would check this thread:

    http://forums.hexus.net/hexus-hardwa...y-brother.html

I have listed laptops which have decent graphics in it and some will be under £800. Also note there are discount codes on the front page of the website and you can get cashback through TopCashBack. If you can use both together your friend can save a decent amount of money.

I would check post 3 and consider the laptops with the Mobility Radeon HD5650M and the GeForce GT540M.

If your friend can spend some more money the laptop in post 9 has a Mobility Radeon HD5870M.
