    Question gtx 590 3bg vram?

    Hi all,

just wondering why the GTX 590 is marketed at having 3gb ram when for example if I sli two gtx 570's I will have 1.25gb vram, not double that.

The gtx 590 specs list it as 1536mb per gpu

    Am I missing something here?

The 590 is two 1.5gb 580s on one board, downclocked. It's marketed as having 3gb ram on the board, which is correct. However each GPU only sees 1.5gb so the effective ram size is 1.5gb as you point out.

the marketing certainly is misleading but as said it does have 3GB. TBH, 1.5 gb is enough for pretty much anything
