Re: mobo, cpu, gpu advice
Hi - and welcome to Hexus.
You can't run the i7 9xx series in your MoBo. They're 1366 sockets. However the i7 860 or 870 are good chips.
That PSU should be fine for an i7 870 and a single 580, but if you go SLI then I'd be looking for a little more headroom.

Thanks! i've been a member here since 06, just never posted before but always find excellent advice here.
the reason i said about the processor is because of this list on scan http://www.scan.co.uk/shop/computer-...29-socket-1156
they're all i7 that says 1156 so now im confused...
would an i7 be a drastic performance boost over my i5 650?
*EDIT* yeah im stupid and cant read properly! i remember how i got onto the 950 because i was thinking of getting a 1366 mobo and got confused. So i re phrase, would an i7 8 series be a drastic performance boost over my i5? thanks again, and sorry for my idiocracy
Re: mobo, cpu, gpu advice
I'm guessing that your main use is gaming based on the 580 ?
If so, the answer is yes. How much depends on your game of choice.
Anandtech's CPU bench is excellent for this sort of comparison.

Re: mobo, cpu, gpu advice
yeah i use it for gaming mainly. High end games such as crysis, metro 2033, etc. Metro 2033 looks amazing as it is and played everything on full (at 1360x768) but at 1080p it slowed down to what felt about 20 frames per second, which from when going from 60 to 20 it is a big drop in playability. Would the processor help increase this?

Yes it should. There are a wide range of games shown in the Anandtech comparisons, but not 2033. Google may be able to find some comparisons. But then we're buying a chip for a range of games, not just one.
Re: mobo, cpu, gpu advice
I think I'll get saving for about 6 months, get a new mobo, processor, ssd drive, and then see what cards are out when i finally do it. Nopoint rushing i guess, my system is decent for now :) thanks for the helps chaps
