While that would be a problem for existing software vendors lots of new code, they are however third parties and apple does not get a cut from sales of there programs, interestly MS has already said it will do windows for ARM, so that means office too! A shift to arm, world allow use of all the Apps from the Apple App store, and apple does quite well from there sale. I don't think Apple likes being seen as a PC in a pretty box a shift to ARM would allow them to be "different".

I think in about 2 to 3 years times the cloud would have matured and there would be more cloud based apps.
So maybe we will see a cloud version of photoshop and final cut in a couple of years time. Thats the only justification i can think of for apple moving latops to the arm architectiure.

Even though this chip is cheaper than the x86 offerings, Apple laptops will still cost an ARM and a leg though.
