Esata HDD

Hi All

I'm looking to get an esata HDD (about 1TB) to use as a backup drive. anyone have anu suggestions or recommendations? Most of the cheaper ones seem to be USB, which is too slow for large backups IMO so I'd rather go down the esata route. Would i be better off getting an esata caddy and drive seperate?

Any advice/suggestions welcome!

Why not go for USB3?

Look for special deals, sometimes it is cheaper to get retail aio rather than separate cage and hdd.

don't have a usb3 card in the computer currently and have a couple of esata ports. plus from looking at some reviews there doesnt seem to be much difference between esata and usb3 when it comes to data transfer speeds etc

oh. I thought most 800 series should have got usb 3 onboard.

you're right there might not have much difference between esata and usb3 in terms of data transfer speed but usb is more compatible for any devices. You don't usually find esata port on laptop or many other devices, but yes for usb.

800 series? yeah thats the only thing thats putting me off is lack of esata ports on other hardware as usb3 ports seem to be popping up on laptops and newer desktops now. decisions decisions.....

Oh, sorry I thought you are using amd 880 chipset. Must have mistaken with others.
Anyway, didn't change the stand of my view.

have to say i'm beginning to agree. save a few more pennies and invest in a usb3 card me thinks
