Apple to move over to ARM based processors for their laptops??
Re: Apple to move over to ARM based processors for their laptops??
While that would be a problem for existing software vendors lots of new code, they are however third parties and apple does not get a cut from sales of there programs, interestly MS has already said it will do windows for ARM, so that means office too! A shift to arm, world allow use of all the Apps from the Apple App store, and apple does quite well from there sale. I don't think Apple likes being seen as a PC in a pretty box a shift to ARM would allow them to be "different".
Re: Apple to move over to ARM based processors for their laptops??
Most software should easily compile on ARM with little or no effort. If not, it deserves to burn. But anyway, as for Apple, sure they were PC even when they were flogging PowerPC machines. ;)

I think in about 2 to 3 years times the cloud would have matured and there would be more cloud based apps.
So maybe we will see a cloud version of photoshop and final cut in a couple of years time. Thats the only justification i can think of for apple moving latops to the arm architectiure.

Even though this chip is cheaper than the x86 offerings, Apple laptops will still cost an ARM and a leg though.
