    Phenom Price Wars?

Not sure if this is the right place to post or whether it should be on the shopping forum but there appears to be some price wars going on at Amazon with AMD Phenom processors.

At the moment the best price for a Phenom II x4 955 is £55.20 + £4.99 postage:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Phenom-3...dp/B002TQYUAE/

and the Phenom II x6 1090T at the unbelievable price of £92.44 + £3.99 postage:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Phenom-1...dp/B003FVI2KQ/

There seem to be several sellers selling at similar prices so hopefully these prices are genuine.

This seems too good to be true...so probably is...but Oh how I wish it to be true.

To buy or not to buy that is the question.
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.

    Re: Phenom Price Wars?

I can't make the choice either - so tempted to buy.

It does seem too good to be true but I've been watching since this morning and the prices keep altering slightly in competition with each other but not increasing.

The sellers also seem to have very good ratings so I'm still not sure!

    Re: Phenom Price Wars?

    You're right!

Just ordered the Phenom II x4 955 from seller mopodo-uk at £55.23 plus £4.99 shipping.

Order was accepted and I used a few pounds of my gift certificate balance to get it a bit cheaper and hopefully tie Amazon into the contract.

I'll let you know when my order gets cancelled or miraculously arrives!

    Re: Phenom Price Wars?

I'm not going to buy...I'm going to wait patiently for bulldozer, buy an 2x16PCI (probably ASUS Sabretooth) enabled mobo then xfire with another 5850 to add to my current one.
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.

    Re: Phenom Price Wars?

I've heard that there was going to be Phenom proce slashing to clear the way for Bulldozer - so probably are genuine prices.

    Re: Phenom Price Wars?

All the 1090T low prices have now disappeared and the lowest price is now just over £140 so maybe it was a mistake.

The 955 prices are still the same though - 3 sellers at around £60.

Nothing back about my order yet but it's not been long - fingers crossed they will honour it though.

Been wanting a quad Phenom for a while to pair up with one of the new AM3+ boards when they arrive to allow a future upgrade to Bulldozer so here's hoping.

HA! the 1090T has all sold out of the <£100...I wonder how many HEXUS bods have grabbed themselves a bargain (I hope) on the strength of this thread.
Of course I'm perfect you just need to lower your expectations.

And the 955 is easily overclockable to 965 levels according to advice on here.

    Re: Phenom Price Wars?

Well I've just had a confirmation of order email from the seller themselves so everything is still looking promising. Says I will get another email when it is shipped so I guess that will be the crunch one.

HUKD seems to be have some weird people:

    http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/amd-...-amazon/935796

A Phenom II X4 955BE is only suitable for "casual" gaming?? It seems everyone needs to get a Core i5 2500k running at 4.5GHZ!!

Looks like I will be doing some "casual" gaming with my slower Q6600 based computer this week.

No wonder people are moving over to consoles.

    Re: Phenom Price Wars?

Nearly cancelled my order after reading all that "expert" advice over on HUKD!

Thankfully the 955BE will do everything I shall want from it at the moment.

Just need to work out which motherboard to get now as I don't even have one I can test the thing with if and when it arrives!

It's an excellent chip for the money; more than good enough for gaming. Get a nice board and a nice overclock and your sorted!

AM3+ motherboards are starting to be released to retail. This means you can upgrade to a Bulldozer based CPU at a later date.
