We ought to also point out, that the revision2 NF7s has been out for ages, so while most places dont tell you the revisions they are selling, its almost certainly to be a rev2 so no need to worry.
One thing to avoid would be buying an NF7s 2nd hand. Its not worth it. Anyone selling a rev 2 invariably wants at least 80% of new price. This usually applies to mobo's in general. Anything up to date, peeps always want too high a % of the new value. They will say its still got 8 - 10 months warranty left, but its usually better to be the person who has actually purchased it yourself giving you the option of dealing with the online vendor rather than direct to the manufacturer if anything goes wrong.
Next thing to mention, is to be wary of people selling 2nd hand 1700+s and 1800s.
You need to find out the code on the chip.
DLT3C = worth almost twice as much as the slightly inferior DUT3C
I don't know if it's got that "feature laden" title anymore...the gigabyte "pro" board has more raid than an anthill in a kitchen...
...and hexus did give that leadtek board such a high rating...
but I bet both of those offerings will retail far higher than the £80 mark the nf7-s v2.0 now inhabits....BARGAIN!
The gigabyte was retailing for £125 at a recent computer fair, which i thought was a joke. I know its going to be more expensive, but wait a few weeks after it floods the main stream and it'll come down. Although it is incredibly late for a NF2 board :\
Oh, and i hate Gigabyte after they screwed me over - but thats a different story.

I agree with you on your first few points. But overall best? It depends on what you want. Can it handle 8 drives? (nope is the answer).
I have an asus A7N8X Deluxe, which I think will match the abit any day

The A7N8X doesnt touch the NF7-S when it comes to overclocking. My NF7-S really did kick the living daylights out of my A7N8X , hense why i kept the NF7-S :)

I peersonally don't use 8 drives, but I can see it becoming very common - 4 hdd drives striped and mirrored, and 4 cd drives - cdr / dvdr / dvd / another drive.
I HATE swopping cds.
though i don't have a problem in the slightest with your view of the abit's OCing capabilities. But OCing alone doesn't make a motherboard (for the layman at least)

Buggy as hell if you try to use the "dual power system" daughterboard. There are plenty of unhappy 7NNXP purchasers who got instability until they STOPPED using that card ;) and the board still requires the additional 4 pin PSU as well as the standard ATX. DPS is a gimmick IMHO and isn't needed for the 7NNXP to work.Quote:

The gigaraid IDE raid is poor against a highpoint 370/372/374 solution. Fixed stripe size and dodgy drivers. Il take my £25 saved from NOT buying that board and buy an IDE highpoint card which is solid.
Finally.. this "PRO" gigabyte board has a capacitor so darn close the socket, that installing a bigger than standard heatsink (eg SLK800/900) will require careful bending of the cap, so the sink can be fitted.
It's got nice specs but under the hood, that board is suspect.
Il stick to my NF7-S. As Agent said.. it's the best. :cool:
