I'd like to think that he removed the other DIMMs to minimise the chance of it being a memory related issues, but with that setup I really don't that that's the case. Likewise, it could be that he had the 1200 as it runns passively for the first few hundred watts and he wanted to ensure silent operation, but the stock cooler blows that theory out the water!

Well from what I can find, you cannot buy a 2GB stick of ram, so He probably has the rest on the side, which is fair. But indeed, its the stock-cooler that worries me.

Stock coolers work fine on a sandybridge setup, maybe he's not overclocking?
