    Upgrading GPU for IP35 and Q6600 ?!?!

So at Christmas time I'm looking to upgrade my GPU ASUS 8800GTS OC'd ready for BF3 and what ever new and amazing eye candy comes out way in 2012!

Currently I've been away for a year away from gaming so lost what's hot and what's not. My current setup used to be the D's B's but time passes and not it's getting passed it!!!

    Abit Ip35
    Q6600 G0 OC 3Ghz
    4GB Reapers
    ASUS 512mb 8800GTS
    Corsair 750w PSU
    XP Pro

So I need to upgrade to W7 to make use of DirectX11 but I need to include that in my budget...

I will have about £150 to £200 to spend on both the OS and the GPU.

Can you give me some ideas on what the best compatible GPU would be for the money please?

Not bothered about if its NVIDIA or ATI (always had NVIDIA and never had issues though)

Thanks for taking the time to look and reply.

I would get the following graphics card:

BFCB2 is an AMD sponsored game and as AFAIK BF3 is also AMD sponsered.

If you get an OEM copy of Windows 7 the total should come to around £200:

OTH,you might want to consider getting a full retail copy of Windows 7:

You would need to get an HD6790 or HD5830 and both of these are considerably slower than an HD6870.

Windows 7 OEM appears to be around £70, leaving only £130 for the GPU. At that price level I'd be looking at a 6870

    Darn. Too slow.
    Society's to blame,
    Or possibly Atari.
