    Raven 3 is finally here

Just spotted this on scan's website
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/silve...window-w-o-psu
At £127 it's up against the corsair graphite 600t

    http://www.kitguru.net/components/ca...v03b-w-retail/
Not the best of reviews, but shows off most of the features.

Nice photo here of how you do the cabling and behind motherboard hard drive mounts

which is from this review http://www.techspot.com/review/394-s...v03/page5.html

    bah $160 yet £127 here

They sure know how to make the front of case bug ugly! Otherwise it seems fine

Must admit i'd take the 600t White in a instant, not loving the HD mountings on the back or the fact its ugly as sin.

Re: Raven 3 is finally here

I actually quite like the hard drives hidden on the back of the motherboard tray (it also has two cages in the 5.25" bays as well) and it does make them easy to get to (just remove one side panel)

I'm not a massive fan of the graphite in white, but the standard one with the metallic grey sheen is very nice and overall is a lovely shape. Given the choice between the two it would be a very hard call for me.

Silverstone has toned the spikeyness down from the pre-production sample they showed off a year ago, because of feedback, but I think I prefured the per-production spikey look because it was odd.
From the review photos the plastic and painted metal don't look right together which spoils the look more.
The Raven series has always been a love/hate style, yet function over style, I think this looks like the case that's finally nailed the 90 degree cooling design.

Re: Raven 3 is finally here

    Personally, I think it's a bit hideous

Very much a fan of the rotated idea - I would happily pay a lot more money for a Fortress over a Raven just on aesthetic grounds

Re: Raven 3 is finally here

I wasn't a fan of the fortress 2 (nor the raven 2) I didn't like the proportions and that all the edges are rounded except the top front and back, which for me where the ones that needed to be rounded.
I do love the original fortress and fortress 3 matx case

Re: Raven 3 is finally here

I agree that it's not the prettiest case ever, but it's far closer to my ideal. If you want a rotated motherboard there doesn't seem to be any choice outside of SST

I have a P180 and my dream case (this is when you realise how sad you are!) for many years was a TJ-09B... plain and simple is my rule when it comes to cases.

By Fortress 3 do you mean this thing: http://www.silentpcreview.com/files/...ne-ft03/02.jpg

I've never even seen that before!

    this one http://www.silverstonetek.com/produc...pno=FT03&area=
    http://www.scan.co.uk/products/silve...r-case-w-o-psu
For an matx it's not cheap but I do like it.

However for you Snootyjim I think the new TJ11 would be the one to look at http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/201...-tj11-review/1
looks of the TJ07, size of the TJ10, rotated motherboard of the raven2/fortress2, but one hell of a price tag

Re: Raven 3 is finally here

    Oh. My.

That is absolutely insane! I actually skated over the reviews of the TJ11, saw it was a replacement for the TJ-07 which never interested me and didn't look any further. That price tag is absolutely mind boggling! What a case though... if I was building a full-scale stationary rig that would be fantastic.

I'll stop derailing the thread any further, this thread just interested me because I'm so convinced about the rotation concept... regrettably I'm not convinced about anything else, not even whether to go matx or atx, so I'm just trying not to think about it until I actually want to build a brand new rig... much easier

Re: Raven 3 is finally here

I much prefer the aesthetics of the FT02 over this, I think the shape is just awesome, it is very long though. In terms of getting the case proportions right this is definately better, but if I was after something this size I would probably get a 650d. 600Ts cooling is not so good from what ive read.

Re: Raven 3 is finally here

The FT02 is an awesome looking case, but it's hardly in the same price point as the RV03. The RV03 v Phantom v 650D is quite a difficult choice.

The FT02 compares to the 800D and various Lian-li cases.
