Onkyo 605 not outputting 5.1 sound from PC
Hi Guys I am using an Onkyo 605 receiver which is attached to my PC via HDMI which outputs 7.1 sound on an ati 5850 Graphics card.
However the amp is only outputting 2 channel sound. I have went into windows 7 sound setting and configured 5.1 setup. However when I hit 'test' I only get sound from the front left and right speakers. There is also a slight delay before I can hear the sound where as in my old setup there was no delay.
No sound at all from the rear, centre or sub speakers.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
Also using a blu-ray I also get either no sound, 2 channel sound or a screetching noise.
Before I ran it through and soundcard and optical lead with no problems. But I took it out and sold it as In trying to cut the pc and its power down.
Any help would be appreciated.
The amp outputs the picture from the gcard and 2 channels of sound but not 5.1. Also there is a slight delay in the sound when I tested it in windows 7 sound settings.
Thanks Guys
Mark
Re: Onkyo 605 not outputting 5.1 sound from PC
Something is wrong in Windows or the amp is being forced into 2 channel.
I would check amp settings, update/re-install video drivers and then run through the windows speaker setup again.

reset the amp and its working woo :D

Just a note, might be of help in the future, I too have an Onkyo for surround and with similar symptoms to yours I realised that i had accidentally activated the second zone speakers. When the amp is in that mode you can only get stereo. Another thing, the delay is probably because of the processing needed when converting stereo to pro logic or its neo. If you run a direct source like dd or dts it will fine. Well that's whdat its like on mine :)
