Does anyone know how this could be fixed and what i would need to do it? I have a soldering iron and solder which i can use okish.

dont bother trying to help, took them apart, tested the connection with a battery from the plug end to the speaker, all fine, put it back together and it stops workign again. grrrrrr

Must be a loose connection in the driver unit in that case:(.

Fiddle with the Jack and all solder points along the line, and if you can't find the short-circuit, have a good look at all the solder points, and if it don't work, it's either a contact inside the speaker casing (magnet etc) or a bit along the line in the way. Cheers

Found what the problem is. took a battery and attached it to the in jack, and the speaker out pin. That was fine, tried it at the earth part of the jack and it didn't work. Obviously each speaker has its own earth and the left earphone earth has broken somewhere in the wire. Looks like some sennheiser 280s for me then :p
