Homeserver spec, thoughts?
Hi all
I'm looking at building a small server to run Windows Home Server 2011. (I'm currently using an old E6600 cpu in my old antec p180 case).
I've come up with this spec and wanted to double check it was all compatible, I'm going down the miniITX line to try and save some space:
Case: InWin BM639 with 120w PSU (PSU should be fine for what I want)
CPU: i3 2100
MB: Gigabyte GA-H67N
RAM: 2 x 2GB Corsair XMS3 10666
HDD: 2TB Samsung F4
Hoping this would run pretty cool too.
So whats peoples thoughts?
Re: Homeserver spec, thoughts?
Any reason you're not considering an HP Microserver? Would've thought that's overkill for what you need.
Re: Homeserver spec, thoughts?
I thought about one of them but I use live transcoding in PS3 Media Centre and Air Video for my iPad, didn't think the spec on the Microserver is up to it.
Plus even with the £100 rebate I'd still need to buy RAM, HD and OS (running the trial at the moment), so savings would be minimal.
I've actually decided on a different MB, the:
Asus P8H61-I Rev 3.0 Socket 1155 Motherboard
And found a slightly cheaper case.
Total cost at the moment is £350.

Can your transcoding app use gpus?
