    Re: New computer help please

I have edited my set up on the origianal post based on what you guys have told me and other recommendations, could you guys give that a quick look please? im just unsure what graphics card to buy, i have around 190-220 pounds to spend but just want to get the best performance for my budget based on the set up i have listed.

    Edit -

I have been told you need around 1600Mhz of ram to over clock is this right?

    Re: New computer help please

That Z68 motherboard is quite nice! The MSI GD53 uses the P67 chipset but should be fine for overclocking. However,of course the Z68 has extra features which maybe useful.

I would consider a GTX570. If you go for the P67 motherboard you can get the MSI GTX570. Alternatively, an HD6950 or a GTX560TI would do the job too. If you can get hold of a revision one HD6950 2GB the shaders can be unlocked to the same number as an HD6970 2GB.

Overclocking is done through the CPU multiplier so ram speed doesn't matter, just watch out that the ram is rated at 1.5V.

You will get the best bang for buck for gaming by buying the best graphics card you can afford within your budget. To see if the 570 would be worth it over the 560ti anandtech has benched them both here

The 6950 and 570 are very similar, some games prefer one card over the other.

An HD6970 2GB can be had from Ebuyer for around the same price as the GTX570 from Scan.
