Very nice idea extending the base down to ground level, did you also tie to the desk just in case you kicked it? On an aside is that a Heman Miller "Mirra" chair?

well for £350 for some steel it damn well better be fancy.
Yes I know steel in the thicknesses required for these things doesn't come that cheap, but I still find it odd there's such a bit jump in price from 2 monitor stands to 3 monitor stands.
on a side note, I've found a lovely single monitor stand http://cpc.farnell.com/1/1/61333-des...ro-signal.html
Got a couple of these for work, they are seriously chunky heavy duty things, without being over the top on price.
There is a dual screen version, but haven't found a triple screen version.

I spent quite a while toying between wall and desk mounted arms and this stand. To maintain build quality, the price worked out about the same for either option.
I'd seen the review on WSGF and familiarised myself with the specs but I hadn't appreciated quite how heavy duty it was. It's a quality piece of kit - you'd really have to go out of your way to damage it. It's weighty too. Together with the three 23" displays, it nears 40kg.
The base itself is around 400x450mm. Having that on a 600mm deep desk (which is about as large as I can go due to the room layout) isn't practical; the displays end up far too close for comfort. Also, being 6'3" tall, I need the displays to be higher than the original upright allows.
It cost me £14, plus postage for a 2m length of steel tubing and about a tenner for a can of Hammerite Smooth. One sunny afternoon, a hacksaw and as many layers of spray paint that the can would allow.
It's not difficult getting the displays aligned at practically whatever angle you choose. I have mine set so the outer displays are angled at 40 degrees with their bezels tucked behind the middle display. I would recommend having a spirit level handy when compensating for the slight give in the arms as they take the weight of the monitors.
I haven't got around to tying off the upright yet although I mean to do so after I've redecorated. Just need to get around to making a bracket - there's a 100mm gap between wall and upright. Fixing it to the desk would be simpler but, obviously, less secure. It's still less destructive than the wall mounts would have been.
@oolon Yeah, it's a Mirra. I'm prone to long sessions in front of the PC and my back would only take so much in my old chair - too much slouching. No trouble whatsoever now - I've even stopped slouching. If it wasn't for wanting a stand and desk space, I'd have opted for the Aeron. I'm quite happy with the compromise though. Think it's worked out well enough.
Pauldarkside I have the same problem I'm 6'5" & always end up stooping to get a better view of my display, they never seem to go high enough
Thanks for the info on spirit level, can't wait to have a play
It's a Herman Miller "Mirra" which I bought from www.back2.co.uk. Took about 4 weeks between ordering and delivery but it was a custom order. Just shy of £550 butt my arse was worth it (and my back)
