If you're still looking the amd 350 itx boards seem nice. I think theres an asus one thats passively cooled so combined with a pico psu you could have a completely silent pc with bareable performance.

Did you find a system to meet your needs?

Yeah I decided to go with a socket 1155 system.

    Pentium G620T (35w TDP)
    ASUS P8H61-I with 4GB DDR3
    Crucial m4 60GB in an Antec ISK300-150

    It's 4.98*

Have you built it yet? Total cost / pics?

Reason i ask is that i am thinking of ditching my tower setup and going small or, getting a laptop. I hate using the pc in a different room from the family and space is at a premium.

I can fully recommend the Antec ISK 300-150 for smaller builds. I've run mine with two setups -

    Athlon II x2 240e
    Sapphire 5570 low profile
    4GB DDR2
    Sapphire AM3 ITX board

    and

    i3 2100t
    Sapphire 5570 low profile
    8GB DDR3
    Asus H61 board

In both cases the in built graphics would also work fine. The SPU in the Antec is very quiet, so you only really have the low profile CPU fan, which isn't audible.

Also worth noting the Antec comes with slim line sata connectors - which is a nice touch.

What about a PSU? Would a 150w Pico be ok?

Why not use the 300w silverstone one that comes with it? Without a graphics card, 150w should be okay.
