    Which gaming mouse?

Been looking around for a gaming mouse as my MX700 is very nice it doenst seem to cut it when playing the likes of UT2k4 ect.

So far ive narrowed down the list to the following

    Razor boomslang
    Razor Viper
    Logitec MX510
    MS intelimouse v4

Which is the best? is the viper a better mouse than the boomslang as it uses optical tech rather than ball tech?

Also best mouse mat? I assume the Icemat is the one to go for?

    Help me frag you

Razor Boomslang 2100 and a Black Ice Mat. Trust me, me old mate.

The Vyper is quality, but it still doesn't have the speed or acuracy of a Boomslang. I suppose its a comprimise for those who want a proper gaming mouse, and an optical mouse. No side-buttons though, and not as precise as the 2100, as I said.

spend most of my time gaming, nothing fancy, but going to lans and such, the most common mouse ive seen used is the intellimouse explorer 3.0 , ive got one and its nice
as for mouse mat, well ive got an autobytel.co.uk one from the 2000 motorshow, dont ever plan on splashing out on "pro" mats unless i get them free through clan sponsoring etc. and to be honest, youll never notice the difference between your 50p office world mat and an icemat/steelpad/etc unless your playing at the highest level of skill where things like an extremely smooth mouse slide/ low sens matters (ie cs maybe)
but if your adamant you must spend some money on a mat, people seem to like steelpads and funcpads
er, if your northbridge fan is humming loudly, disconnect it. _dont_ kick the side of the case, it _will_ break it.
    i know :/

I reckon the Intelimouse V4 would be good, as long is aint wireless. No many wireless mice seem to cut it in games like UT04 (my Microsoft Intelimouse Blue Wireless) doesnt seem to cut it. Anything wired is good, very reliable as they don't loose any signal or get interference (within normal reason) Optical is much better aswell, don't really need a mousemat (I just use the surface of my desk with my other wired intelimouse) but some people swear by them. Can't really comment about the Razorboomslang, never used one. I heard somewhere that they use an optically read ball or something along those lines. (from what i can remember)

Stick with the Boomslang when you get it. It will feel a bit weird, and you might not like it, but stick with it, and force yourself to get used to it.

The 2 main buttons may seem too big, the mouse a funny shape, and it may seem far too sensative even on the lower settings, but after a few days, it will be the standard mouse that feels weird, and you will be perfectly comfortable with the world's best gaming mouse.

I am happy with my MX700 too. Some people claims it lags but I got no problem with FPS with it so I say its good.

My only complaint is that it is on the heavy side for my small hands (batteries). It is the one aspect where the MX500/510 is better IMO.

    Loadsa nice mice.
However I still love my Logitech Wingman Gaming Mouse.
Super sticky ball needs cleaning more often but is great to use and surprisingly good shape.

Now I don't suppose anyone has a wheel upgrade kit?
