Laptop results are in, took a long time though not bad for something with a 17" screen that just sits in my bedroom and streams video from my network lol, god knows I couldn't consider it portable with it's horrid battery life and back breaking weight.

Is it possible to run Splice again?? It does seems when it comes to encoding the i7 2600K has no slow down for Splice!!
The Macbook is a T7200, and the Athlon is an X3 450 displayed in windows as a Phenom B55 or something similar but as I said, with no L3 it is the same as a X4 650.
