I'm getting a tiny bit fed up with my onboard sound on my Abit IC7 mb, anyone recommend any soundcards.
Playing IL2FB most at the moment via headphones for proper surround sound so bear this in mind?.

Audigy 2 oem is good for the money.
Yeah, any Audigy 2 would be could, what headphones are they?
I doubt you'd be using the Zalman Surround Theatre (I think thats what they are called) headphones so you wouldnt need all the EAX and such like.
I would stray away from the creative offerings....look at terratec or m-audio for the REAL quality![]()
Terratec stuff is meant to be good or M-Audio although I think they are more expensive. Creative isnt that popular with the audio editing crowd at the moment AFAIK.
I need to get one myself now since my brother stole my Creative soundblaster. Cant stand the onboard ac97 sound

Audigy's are made to look very silly by the soundstorm onboard of the nf2 mobo's, iirc you can get the same chipset on an add-in card, but I can't remember which one it is at the moment..

Ive had my audigy for over a year. its still doing me well and it was the best in its day/althoguh since then not much has changed from creatives audigy. but ive seen myself not needing anything new as my sound is gr8 on 5.1 setup.

Depends on the budget

TiG, be awrae that FB is known to have an issue with Creative drivers. Once installed, you'll have replace one of the dll files or you'll get timed out randomly from servers.
I have a Hercules Fortissimo which rocks along very nicely. Outputs for front, rear, center and headphones. You can change all that within software to go 7.1 surround if you fancy. The positional audio on headphones is excellent... espesh with a set of Sennheisers... its not so good with my gamevoice headset, but then I have comms with them.
Come round and have a listen sometime..... In fact, I was toying with the idea of going to the on-board nForce sound storm card on my NF7-S, seeing as its there... so the Hercules card might even be going begging!![]()
Headphones are HD570 Senn's, I've just had enough of the AC97 on board sound.
If you do decide to sell the sound card Deckard let me know.
