    Laptop cooling?

    afternoon :]

does anyone know if there is anything that i can buy for my laptop to keep it a bit cooler?
one of the reasons i bought it was for playing games, it has quite a decent spec so it can run crysis 2 pretty well - but it gets so incredibly hot that the laptop will turn itself off after about half an hour of gaming, which i am sure you can understand is not enough

i already bought a "phillips heatprotect laptop sleeve" which is great for stopping my legs/table from getting hot - but i need to actually add some cooling or something to my laptop

    any ideas? :]

For a start, take the battery out when gaming as this will help you loads, second have you looked at actual laptop coolers? they raise your laptop and have fans underneath XD

You could get a laptop stand with fans
Dont know what they are like but they seem cheap enough.

    Re: Laptop cooling?

I have a cheap belkin cooler, basically anything with a fan under it that props up the laptop is going to help

Also any soft surface is often bad, as the material will conform to the bottom of the laptop and block off the intake vents.

PS this is why they are officaily called notebooks, not laptops, they produce too much heat to be safely used on your "lap"

    Re: Laptop cooling?

Use a hard surface so you get maximum airflow from fans, thats a start. I also once used 4 ice packs and placed them under it, lasted about an hour but no overheating at all

    Re: Laptop cooling?

sorry to bump, I didn't want to start a new thread, but what did you end up buying.

Or can anyone recommend one because I hear many are easily broken or stop working

TBH my laptop never skips a beat while gaming, but the temps after half an hours gaming scare the crap out of me.

    Much appreciated
