Strange stains on brand new graphics card
Hi,
I bought a new graphics card from Scan (a MSI Hawk HD 6870) and when I took the card out of the box I saw that the card looked kinda in crappy condition. The back of the card has strange stains all over the back.
However the box and packaging looks in really good nick. The card is working fine (as far as I can tell) and I have no problems running games.
I took some photos of the card (sadly all I got is a mobile camera). What do you guys think the stains are?

 Damn I hope not.
Hopefully you guys can see the pictures. What do you guys think of my chances when I need to RMA the card and them refusing because of the stains?
Re: Strange stains on brand new graphics card
It's just PCB residue - it's fine :)

Thats good to know. I had a hinkering that it could be that. It just looks really bad when you look at it in person.
Re: Strange stains on brand new graphics card
yep, looks like residue - probably failed during the manufacturing process and was repaired. Pretty standard procedure so nothing to worry about.

???
Erm, that's perfectly normal PCB manufacturing residue that you'll find on a lot of PCBs. It has nothing to do with failure.
