    what laptop/netbook

Can anyone recommend a good laptop? I'm after the holy grail for going on city breaks + working off my knee during the commute: priorities (in order) are:

    good for DVD watching
    battery life
something easy to take on airplanes etc
    portable
able to use internet while on travels
able to handle work on the go (office, powerpoint etc) without grinding to a halt.

preferably with a built-in DVD player but not essential if a portable one can be purcahsed with it.

budget ideally sub £300, no more than £500 unless it's absolutely worth it. Were the mac-book pro not £1000 it would prob be ideal.

    Re: what laptop/netbook

i'd be inclined to agree, but I could really do with one for this w/e (I can peddle it later if Llano is as good as it's meant to be for that bracket)

    Re: what laptop/netbook

Not the best battery, but comes with a dedicated card (not sure that it will be much use to you)

    http://www.dabs.com/products/dell-in...lack-7L0C.html £339

Keep an eye out on hotukdeals, I've seen a lot of dell laptops around the £500 mark

    Re: what laptop/netbook

ok, I thought this sort of machine didn't exist but check this out:

    http://uk.asus.com/Notebooks/Superio...specifications

ticks all the boxes and less than a mac-book, plus no bendy plastic chassis. If I can find one, I'm seriously considering ordering this, depending on price + unless anyone can suggest a better option for similar price.

battery life is the downer with both those. I'm ideally after something that will let me watch a few DVD films before keeling over and dying.
