    help with upgrading my cpu!

    Hi everyone! i just bought a AMD Athlon 2200+ cpu (socket A) in the hopes that my current motherboard will support it!

    the cpu does have a heatsink/fan But I don't want to just pop it in the motherboard without knowing if it will work correctly!

    Is it a Thoroughbred or Thorton core that you have bought?

    Apparently that board uses the Via KT133 chipset.
    I had a T'bred B chip running in an ASUS KT133 based mobo although officially unsupported. Only thing is it will probably run at 100fsb rather than the chips designed 133.
    Still that would give you 1.35 GHz (13.5 Multi).

    Itll most likely be Tbred and I think you will prob have a issue getting it to work on that board as it looks like a early socket A board and may not have the support for that CPU.

    Thanks for replying to the post! i went and did some serious homework & decided to buy a new motherboard!
    I scored a soyo kt333 dragon lite which will support the chip and just work a lot better... much thanks for the insight though..
