Question How clean badly scraped off adhesive/acoustic mat??

For some reason I decided to scrape off some acousting matting from inside my case and now have a nasty patchy area with white & black bits all over it from the adhesive and rubber/foam that I couldn't scrape off (with a chisel )

Anyone know how the hell to get this stuff off? Its butt ugly

Any solvent should do. Try white spirit or acetone (nail varnish remover etc). My favorite for removing stuff like heatsink paste etc is isopropanol alcohol which I beleive is available at maplins.

Careful with any liquid in a pc

    btw above solvents are flammable.

You can soak any circuit board in isopropanol alcohol and if it fully evapourates then it should work again. Dont make a habit of it tho . But yea any kinda solvent should work. Be careful tho so solvents will melt the foam and then you will have a bigger stickier mess to get rid of.

Alcohols are usually good for that kind of sticky adhesive. As mentioned Isopropyl alcohol is good or methylated spirits usually does the job and is a bit easier to get hold of.

Try to scrape off as much as possible then use white spirit to get the rest off, probably best to put it on a cloth and wipe it. I just used this method to clean off an accrilic lacquer spray that I used on my copper waterblocks. I touched them thinking they were dry, and ruined the coat
