    AMD Athlon 64 FX-53 and Model 3800+ socket-939 CPUs

The bottom line is very simple. AMD's delivered performance in spades with its new socket-939 processors; performance that makes Intel's Pentium 4s look impotent in comparison. We await Intel's response with baited breath.

Im sure someone will OC and get one.

Im glad the new Socket 939 stuff is coming out. Means that it should be at a reasonable price by the time I want to upgrade.

Yeah, good to see it all coming out now. We'll see PCI-Express and Intel's new LGA sockets (which sound rather bad from what i hear, pins on the mobo, what next!) coming out soon.

500 fps in quake is truly insane, looks like 1 hell of a chip.

    Good review!

Do we have a rough price on what the 939 3800 will cost?

The FX-53 will cost $799, the 3800+, the 3700+ and the 3500+ are priced at $270, $710 and $500 respectively.

    Erm....

What the hell have AMD done.

I've always thought that the AMD 64 range ran pretty cool, much more than the Intels offering.

That bios screenshot with the 3800+ sitting at 59oC isn't fantastic. That's Prescott territory!

One day Intel will release a killing blow to AMD and all of you will fall with them!

And could someone please point me in the direction of a review or something that would explane why you all favor AMD! I dont understand what makes them so good!

I saw that aswell... Since it is basicly the same A64 as any earlier model, but with a new memory controller, it should be in the same territory as earlier models... I don't see why a S939 FX-53 must be much hotter than a S940 FX-53? Is the memory controller (only thing I could see changed) generating that much heat?

Still doesn't change my opinion on the CPU by much... would still be proud if I owned one. And since I do have a Vapo XE to cool it, I don't think it would be an issue. I just want to know much further it will go with a little cooling and volts before getting one.

When a Vapo isn't sufficient to cool a CPU at stock, I'll stop with computers and start working with something else

Nice... already in stock... Now there are just 3 more models to bounce up and AMDs full new linueup will be on the go.

Ohh, I see they had more at newegg. 3500+ and 3700+ are in stock aswell. Well, then I just have to wait until the new FX-53 is available, and they all reach Sweden...

The prices that the INQ specified seem to be right then... and they are too high for me I'm afraid. I'm after a 3800+, or now when the pricedifference is so small a FX-53. 512kB extra cache is worth $80 I'd say And just to own a FX-53 would make me proud as I ever could be.

Now come the long waiting for pricedroppings...
