Time to upgrade but keep IP35 advice?

Hey,

Looking to upgrade my rig to Windows 7 (64bit) and get some of that Dx11 love!

Current:
IP35 Pro
Q6600 G0
4GB Reaper Heat Pipe RAM
ASUS 8800 GTS

Looking to update to GPU to another NVIDIA one, possibly 560 or 460???????

My limit for the GPU is £150..

While I'm at it I might as well look at adding/upgrading my RAM.... It's been a long time since I got the Reapers and they no longer sell them.... any ideas.. dont want to spend too much either!

You'll find they are basically the same, the non-Ti gtx560 is a gtx460 at higher clock speeds, so a gtx460 overclocked to the same level will perform the same.

also note that not all EVGA cards come with their 10year warranty now.
You have to pay attention to the last two digits/letters in the model number
Both of those end in KR so they are 3year warranty you can extend that with EVGA to 5year or 10year but you have to register the card within 30days and then buy an extention from them http://eu.evga.com/support/warranty/extended.asp

Still as both cards are clocked at 850mhz ether should be good. :)

This one does come with the 10year warranty as standard http://www.scan.co.uk/products/1gb-e...dvi-i-minihdmi model ends in ER, you must remember to register the card with evga to get the extended warranty.

What PSU have you got?

No real point in upgrading the RAM unless it's limiting overclocking, 4gb is still plenty and OCZ reaper was some of the best ddr2 (you cannot put ddr3 into a ddr2 motherboard)
If you're not overclocking, then an overclock will be the best way to boost performance.

I would also look at an HD6870 1GB too. It tends to consume less power at idle and at load when compared to a GTX460 1GB or GTX560 1GB. The pre-overclocked GTX460 and GTX560 cards tend to also have relatively high power consumption at load too.

The PSU is OCZ ModXstream 700w - It comes with the 6 pin PCI card wire.

I made the plunge, I bought the Asus GTX 560 and Win 7 64bit.

I am nervous about installing W7 as heard all the horror stories of drivers etc.....

Anyway know or have experience with the IP35 Pro MOBO and install W7 on it, what drivers do I need, the same ones I used on xp ??????

No there should be a separate set for win7 esp as this is the 64bit version

However the drivers on the abit website are listed for

so they should work, the drivers for win7 64bit should be the same as the vista 64bit drivers

Windows7 is actually fairly good at picking up drivers via windows update.
